Best known as the winner of the 1990 Hong Kong Beauty Pageant, Anita Yuen is a beauty that is looked up to by women and men alike. She started with her pageant career early on, bagging awards such as Miss Photogenic, and moving on with the Miss Chinese International title. When the Miss Universe pageant took place in 1991, she was also the representative for her country.
After her pageant career, she took on roles for film and television. She had a number of projects that gained good reviews and success within the local market. Made famous by the movie “C’est La Vie, Mon Cheri” in 1993, Anita Yuen gained a lot of popularity thanks to Derek Yee’s direction. She also starred in a cross-gender comedy in the movie “He’s the Woman, She’s the Man” in 1994, also starring Leslie Chung. With the same actress, she again starred in the movie “The Chinese Feast”. For the movies “He’s the Woman, She’s the Man” and “C’est La Vie, Mon Cheri”, she won the Best Actress Award with the Hong Kong Academy. This is a recognition of the powerful performances she gives every time. Aside from these notable films, she does television series in Taiwan. One good example would be Hua Mulan with Vincent Zhao. Other television credits include playing Fong On Yee on Be My Guest, Ling Shanshan on Angel’s Call, Ren Yingying on State of Divinity, and Sufen on The River Flows Eastwards. Some film roles include Siu Kam in From Beijing, With Love; Hung in The True Hero, and more recently, Cheung Wing Sing in Ip Man: The Final Fight.
Anita Yuen got married to Julian Cheung, who is also an actor and singer in Hong Kong. She gave birth to her first child, Morton Cheung, on November 12, 2006. She also revealed some secrets when she guest starred on TVB’S Be My Guest that she and Julian were married confidentially in San Francisco, USA even earlier in 2001.
